Synopsis:

The way ahead: two decades into the 21st century, Caribbean states face unique challenges in their politics, economics, social development, climate change crisis, and more. The COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been told, is an opportunity to rethink the meaning of “normal” and recalibrate our plans for the future. What does that really mean?

This special two-part event brings together the voices of our young people and the expertise of our leaders for a debate about what lies ahead for our region. Three young people in their 20s — Jeanelle Clarke, Mareeka Dookie, and Omari Joseph, representing the Caribbean generation of the new millennium — share their worries and hopes about the future, in specially commissioned reflection. Then, a high-level panel shares frank perspectives on the way ahead for the Caribbean and debates the possibilities and potential pitfalls, with regional thought leaders including climate scientist Prof. John Agard, economist Dr. Justin Ram, and Anthony N. Sabga III, CEO of ANSA McAL Group, one of the largest conglomerates in the region. Hosted by Natalee Legore. In partnership with the Caribbean Futures Institute.
